During the sweltering summer season, workers at Hanhe (Yanggu) Cable Co., Ltd. in Yanggu County, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, are diligently engaged in producing components for the State Grid Corporation of China. The company has invested a total of 38 million yuan to introduce remote monitoring system and SAP information system, and utilized 5G technology for the digital transformation of workshops and smart factories, significantly enhancing the company’s market competitiveness.

“We upgraded our production and testing equipment, and introduced systems for data collection, processing and video monitoring. Through efficient data integration, we have established a digital integration model to achieve a transformation in production methods towards digitalization, automation, and intelligence,” said Ma Gesheng, deputy general manager of the company.

This exemplifies Yanggu’s timely seizing of the favorable opportunity presented by the national large-scale equipment renewal to leverage new technologies and equipment, thereby accelerating the digital transformation of its industrial enterprises. This year, the county has focused on tackling challenges and ensuring effective implementation, leading to a stable and positive trend in the industrial economy. Shizilou Street and Xihu Town have been recognized as strongholds for the high-quality development of the private economy in Liaocheng City, while Yanggu County has been awarded for significant achievements in promoting stable growth and transformation in industrial sectors in Shandong Province in 2023.

This year, Yanggu County has remained committed to its “manufacturing powerhouse” strategy, and insisted on optimizing existing resources, expanding capacity, and enhancing variability to achieve continuous growth in industrial scale. The county has positioned the digital economy as a new driving force for regional advancement, and has striven to break through in the digital-industrial realm. Efforts include laying a stronger foundation for the digital economy, with the establishment of 100 new 5G base stations. The county has also vigorously advanced from “Yanggu Manufacturing” to “Yanggu Intelligent Manufacturing,” and conducted digital assessments for over 200 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with 44 enterprises selected as provincial-level digital economy “Morning Star Factories.” Tailored services have been provided to meet the specific needs of enterprises, including support for firms like Shandong Pacific Network to fill gaps in the software and information services sector.

Quality enterprises have continued to grow. This year, the county saw one new national-level manufacturing single champion enterprise, one new national-level green factory, one of China’s top 100 enterprises in the pre-made dishes sector, one new influential liquor brand in Shandong, one new excellent enterprise in the integration of informatization and industrialization in Shandong, one new advanced SME in the province, six new provincial technology innovation projects, 34 new specialized and sophisticated enterprises that produce new and unique products, and 61 new innovative SMEs, bolstering the momentum for industrial development.
