On May 29, the “Smart Binzhou, Connecting the World — Foreign Media Tour of Shandong: Binzhou Visit” delegation toured the iconic Weishi Manor in Binzhou, Shandong Province, exploring the masterpiece of Chinese architecture.

Located in Weiji Town, Huimin County, Weishi Manor is a nationally protected cultural heritage site and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. As China’s only surviving castle-style manor, it is renowned for its distinctive architectural design and robust military defenses. Alongside the Liu Wencai Manor in Dayi County, Sichuan, and the Mu Family Manor in Yantai, Shandong, it ranks among the “Three Great Manors of China.”

Spanning 32,543 square meters, the estate includes three main architectural clusters, Shude Hall, Xuyi Hall, and Fushou Hall, built during the Qing Dynasty. It stands as a lasting testament to the historical prominence and cultural legacy of the Weishi family.

Weishi Manor masterfully blends the symmetrical, robust, and structured elegance of northern Chinese architecture with the adaptable, dynamic spatial layouts characteristic of southern China. As a rare example of traditional residential architecture combined with military fortification, the manor represents a harmonious fusion of architectural artistry, defense engineering, intangible heritage, and folk culture.
