Dongchangfu’s Cotton-Padded Jacket Paves Way for Rural Revitalization

In Houying Town, Dongchangfu District, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, the cotton-padded jacket has become a buzzword. With over 130 factories, this small town keeps the jacket business buzzing year-round: spring’s for designing and crafting, summer’s all about sales, and fall and winter to fill orders.

Renowned as the “Town of Cotton-Padded Jacket,” Houying has transformed over the years from small family workshops to rows of modern factories. In 2024 alone, the town produced over 35 million jackets — about 70% of China’s total — while creating jobs for more than 6,000 locals.

From design to production to sales, Houying’s got the whole chain dialed in, making its jackets super competitive. Current offerings feature over 100 pattern variations, with technical innovations including wind-resistant and ultra-lightweight designs, available in sizes up to 6XL. In 2024, the industry achieved over 1 billion yuan in annual output value, distributing products to more than 10 provinces including Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning, and expanding global reach to markets such as Greece, Poland, Japan, and South Korea.
