Recently, at the Tmall Premium Appliance Mall in Yanggu County, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, a wide array of home appliances, including refrigerators, washing machines, and TVs, is on display. Throughout the store, signs promoting the “Trade-In for New Appliances” program create a vibrant promotional atmosphere. Zhou Hui, the mall manager, stated, “The ‘Trade-In for New Appliances’ policy is not only well-received by consumers but has also significantly boosted our sales.”

Since the policy’s implementation, upgrade demand has continued to rise. Businesses have responded proactively by offering integrated services such as product evaluation, door-to-door recycling, and subsidy payments to streamline the shopping experience. Wang Ting, a manager at a local digital appliance store, reported ample inventory and trained staff to ensure customers clearly understand and immediately benefit from the incentives.

To maximize the policy’s benefits and stimulate spending, Yanggu County has closely aligned with national and local consumption-boosting measures, rigorously vetting participating businesses and strengthening outreach to ensure subsidies reach consumers directly. To date, 101 enterprises have been selected for Liaocheng’s 2026 home-appliance trade-in program, alongside 35 firms approved for digital-product purchase subsidies.

In recent years, Yanggu has prioritized consumption promotion, and implemented trade-in and subsidy policies for home appliances, e-bikes, and digital products. During the 2025 Yanggu Employee Half-Marathon, the county integrated dining, accommodation, and specialty product resources into event-related promotions, and hosted on-site product exhibitions, successfully converting event visibility into tangible consumption growth. Through coordinated government guidance and business participation, Yanggu is sustaining momentum and unlocking consumer potential with targeted, practical measures.
