Qinhuangdao: Maritime Strength, Smart Manufacturing Upgrade

Located in the heart of the Bohai Bay, Qinhuangdao has drawn on its century-old port heritage to complete a magnificent transformation from a traditional energy port into a smart, integrated port. Qinhuangdao Port has deeply pursued low-carbon, intelligent transformation, achieving a green evolution of the century-old coal port. It has established a “One Center, Three Platforms” smart management model, comprehensively upgrading dry bulk cargo operations from “manned” to “unmanned.” The port pioneered a “five-step dust suppression method” for coal unloading operations, built a comprehensive wastewater treatment system, vigorously promoted the use of clean energy such as shore power and photovoltaics, and increased the proportion of green electricity procurement. As a result, the port’s environmental quality has continuously improved, earning it the title of the nation’s first “five-star” green port area. It has also become the first dry bulk cargo terminal in China to pass the on-site evaluation for “four-star” smart port status, marking significant progress toward the harmonious coexistence of an industrial port and a beautiful coastal bay.

 

The port’s efficient and green operations have not only reshaped the energy logistics landscape but also provided solid support for Qinhuangdao’s high-end manufacturing sector to connect with global markets. Leading local enterprises are demonstrating the strength of Chinese manufacturing. CITIC Dicastal supplies lightweight aluminum components to premium global automakers, covering major German and American automotive brands. The century-old enterprise Yaohua Glass has independently developed a number of domestically leading and world-class new glass products and core technologies, with its products exported to nearly 100 countries and regions, including Europe, Southeast Asia, and South America. China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group has undertaken large-scale bridge projects in multiple countries, with its high-end steel structures exported overseas.
