The results of the third annual picture selection announced in Liaocheng, Shandong
LIAOCHENG, ChinaOn February 21, 2022, the results of the third annual selection of pictures submitted by the public were announced in Liaocheng, Shandong. According to the Information Office of the People’s Government of Liaocheng, since its opening in April 2021, Liaocheng’s third annual picture selection event received more than 4,000 pictures from the public, with themes covering the economy, society, culture, scenery, and architecture. After a preliminary review and then an expert review, from a total of 120 finalists, 10 pictures of the year and 20 additional outstanding pictures were selected.
Liaocheng, Shandong, a northern water town and an ancient capital along the Grand Canal, is naturally closely associated with water, and it is believed this gives spirit to the town. There are many rivers in the city of Liaocheng, and 23 of them have a river basin of more than 30 square kilometers each. The Yellow River flows more than 50 kilometers in the east; the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal flows through the center of the town; the Wei River flows towards Hebei, Shandong, and Henan in the west; and the Majia River and the Tuhai River crisscross the city. Dongchang Lake, the largest urban lake in northern China, covers an area of 6.3 square kilometers. It surrounds a one-square kilometer ancient town built during the Song Dynasty, creating spectacular scenery that combines water with the town.
