Binzhou Upgrades Industrial Ecosystem

BINZHOU, China

BINZHOU, China, Feb. 24, 2026 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/–

Recently, Binzhou’s industrial “champion list” has been updated: the total number of globally and nationally leading champion products has risen from 37 in 2022 to 82, including 19 global champions. This milestone reflects an upgrade in Binzhou’s industrial ecosystem.

Traditional and Emerging Sectors Advance in Parallel

Binzhou’s traditional pillar industries, including aluminum, high-end textiles, and chemicals, continue to strengthen their leading positions, forming a solid foundation for the city’s industrial economy. At the same time, emerging sectors such as new energy, new materials, and high-end equipment manufacturing are growing rapidly. Notable breakthroughs include electronic-grade hydrofluoric acid for advanced-process logic chips entering the semiconductor supply chain, and lithium-ore flotation reagents supporting upstream resource development. Specialty products such as premium sesame paste and Nannochloropsis concentrate have also topped their categories, demonstrating strong brand-building capabilities rooted in local resources. Champion products in the healthcare sector, such as inactivated propolis vaccines, indicate strong potential for future industries.

The 82 champion products span across eight major industrial sectors in the city. Traditional advantage industries – aluminum, textiles, chemicals, grain and food processing, livestock and aquaculture – account for 51 products, while emerging industries – high-end equipment, new materials, and healthcare and wellness – contribute the remaining 31.

Innovation Ecosystem Fuels Growth

Binzhou has introduced an innovative “enterprise growth ladder” model, establishing a full-lifecycle cultivation system that supports businesses from innovative SMEs to specialized champion firms. As a result, 240 new champion enterprises and little giants at provincial-level and above have been nurtured, expanding its high-quality enterprise matrix. With R&D intensity ranking first in Shandong Province for five consecutive years, accelerated innovation has become a powerful driver behind the emergence of champion products. Transitioning from “individual champions” to “cluster-based emergence,” Binzhou is writing a new chapter of high-quality development through tangible industrial upgrades.
