On Sept. 26, the 2025 Linyi Collective Wedding Ceremony took place at Wuzhou Lake Square in Linyi City. The event brought together couples for a celebration that blended tradition with modernity, sharing moments of warmth, romance, and joy.
The ceremony was solemn yet romantic, simple yet vibrant. Eighty couples, dressed in traditional wedding attire, tied the knot through rituals such as passing under arches, crossing the red carpet, stepping over fire basins, and performing the triple bow. These rituals seamlessly integrate traditional Chinese wedding customs with contemporary values. Ten golden wedding couples presented the newlyweds with scrolls inscribed with family mottos and traditions, symbolizing the relay of marital wisdom. Newlyweds’ representatives then read the Good Family Traditions Initiative and collectively pledged to “promote the Yimeng Spirit and uphold fine family values.”
In recent years, Linyi City has deepened reforms to modernize customs and promote cultural progress. The city has established a comprehensive working mechanism featuring “government guidance, association self-regulation, and public participation.” It pioneered the establishment of wedding industry associations across all counties and districts in Shandong Province, guided over 760 wedding-related businesses to commit to “Five Transparency Pledges,” and encouraged the public to embrace new wedding customs. To date, Linyi has held more than 59,000 such events, benefiting over 6.7 million people.
The event was co-hosted by the Publicity Department of CPC Linyi Municipal Committee, the Linyi Municipal Committee of Communist Youth League, the Linyi Women’s Federation, and the Linyi Civil Affairs Bureau, and organized by the Linyi Media Convergence Center. It invited 80 newlywed couples and 10 golden wedding couples to promote simplified and civilized wedding practices, carry forward the Yimeng Spirit, and foster positive family traditions.
During the ceremony, attending leaders presented collective wedding certificates to the newlyweds and commemorative certificates to golden wedding couples. Representatives of the golden wedding couples shared their blessings, while newlywed representatives expressed gratitude. After the event, the newlyweds boarded a decorated public bus for a tour of Langya Ancient City, creating unforgettable memories.
