Move Toward Larger Scale, Better Quality

Lingzhi, or ganoderma lucidum, is one of the “Three Treasures of Liaocheng.” In recent years, Guanxian County has focused on the high-quality development of the lingzhi industry, and established a complete industry chain that integrates germplasm resource protection, artificial cultivation, and product processing, thereby opening up new pathways for promoting sustainable income growth for residents and advancing rural industrial revitalization. The county is the largest cultivation and trade base for lingzhi in China and has been awarded the title of “Strong County for Lingzhi Production” by the China Edible Fungi Association. The county produces 13,000 tons of lingzhi fruiting bodies and spore powder annually, along with over 800,000 lingzhi bonsai, with lingzhi production accounting for more than 30% of the national total, so it is the largest center for the cultivation and distribution of lingzhi in China.

The increasing prosperity of the lingzhi industry in Guanxian County is attributed to the continuous extension of the industry chain and the growing diversity of products. In 2022, Guanxian County’s lingzhi was approved as a national-level “Food and Medicine Homologous” pilot project. This served as an opportunity to vigorously develop a range of products, including lingzhi health foods, traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, cosmetics, and everyday food items. Currently, Guanxian County has introduced nearly 100 types of lingzhi products, such as spore powder, spore oil, lingzhi wine, and lingzhi tea, effectively extending the industry chain and enhancing added value. As of now, “Guanxian County Lingzhi” has been recognized as a national geographical indication product and listed in the catalog of nationally recognized distinctive and superior new agricultural products, with the lingzhi industry chain becoming increasingly refined.

In 2022, Guanxian County invested in the establishment of a high-quality development demonstration area for the lingzhi industry chain, i.e. Guanxian County Lingzhi Technology Demonstration Park. The first phase includes 40 high-standard multi-tier technological cultivation greenhouses and 80 steel-structured cultivation greenhouses, along with automated breeding production lines, sorting and packaging production lines, and cold storage facilities. The park adopts a business model of “base + cooperative + farmer” to lead farmers toward prosperity and continuously advance the lingzhi industry to new heights.

Today’s efforts will lead to a bright future. Guanxian County will actively build a standard system for the lingzhi industry chain, aiming to elevate the brand “Guanxian County Lingzhi is the best in the world” and promote the high-quality development of the Chinese lingzhi industry. This involves implementing “3-Quality” action to enhance variety, quality, and branding; constructing three key platforms for technological research and development, market transactions, and park-based development; and deeply exploring the fields of biomedicine, health foods, and ordinary foods to achieve an annual output value of the lingzhi industry exceeding 10 billion yuan.
