Oyster Aroma Draws Visitors, Empowering Rushan’s Winter Cultural Tourism Market

Rushan in Shandong Province recently launched its annual oyster promotion season, themed “Savor Fresh Oysters in Winter Rushan” and focusing on industrial integration. A series of festive events and culinary experiences have been rolled out, attracting numerous tourists to enjoy the unique charm of the winter seaside.

 

“I didn’t expect the seaside in winter to be so vibrant! The freshly opened oysters are plump and sweet. This trip is truly worthwhile,” said Ms. Li, a tourist from Jinan, as she savored freshly shucked oysters and captured the lively scene on her phone at an oyster experience shop in Yintan area. To enrich visitor experiences, Rushan has developed multiple oyster-themed dining venues, allowing tourists to immerse themselves in the journey from ocean to table.

 

Today, the annual output value of Rushan’s whole oyster industry chain has exceeded 10 billion yuan. Known as a “marine delicacy,” oysters not only underpin traditional sectors such as breeding, processing, and sales but also give rise to diverse cultural tourism offerings. At the Yintan Oyster Cultural Park, visitors can explore the oyster farming history and culture, stay in themed lodgings, and indulge in specialty oyster dishes.

 

As part of its broader vision to become a coastal destination for tourism, leisure, and wellness, Rushan is actively promoting the deep integration of “oysters + cultural tourism.” This year’s promotion season features two specially designed themed routes: a weekend “48-Hour Oyster Tour” combining food and culture, and a fun “Winter Carnival” route highlighting seasonal attractions. These itineraries connect oyster breeding bases, food workshops, themed restaurants, and other key attractions. To facilitate travel, Rushan also offers discounts for high-speed rail passengers, including reduced prices for A-level scenic spots, star-rated hotels, and dining, making trips more convenient and enjoyable.

 

During the event, Rushan also organizes supporting activities, including industry chain inspections, high-speed rail promotions, and oyster-themed art exhibitions. Through these multi-dimensional initiatives, the city aims to showcase its industrial vitality and tourism resources, build partnerships, and warmly welcome visitors, investors, and stakeholders to explore, understand, and invest in Rushan, thereby jointly paving new paths for the integrated development of the oyster industry and cultural tourism, and writing a new chapter in the development of a green and sustainable marine economy.
