In the first quarter of 2024, the electricity delivered by Shanxi Province reached 41.352 billion kWh, an increase of 8.79 percent year-on-year and a record high for the same period. Among them, the new energy delivery reached 3.772 billion kWh, up 66.63% year on year.

As an important energy base in China, Shanxi undertakes the important mission of ensuring national energy security. Shanxi Power Grid is the meeting point of the trans-regional power transmission line of “power transmission from west to east”, “power transmission from north to south” and UHV “three connections and four direct connections”, and the annual external power transmission accounts for 1/3 of the province’s electricity generation.

In recent years, State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company has accelerated the coordinated development of power grids at all levels in order to improve the transmission capacity of Shanxi Power, and has formed a power transmission channel network of “three AC and one DC UHV + 14 circuits of 500kV”, with a transmission capacity of more than 30 million kilowatts. While strengthening the hardware construction of the air corridor, the company relies on the “medium and long term + spot + auxiliary service” market system, plays the price guidance role of “the first officially operated power spot market in China”, actively carries out cross-provincial and cross-regional market transactions, and expands the number of external power transmission provinces to 23.

On the premise of ensuring national energy security supply, the power transmission of Shanxi is constantly changing from “green” to “new”, and the amount of power transmission with “green” continues to increase. By the end of March 2024, the total installed capacity of Shanxi electric power was 134.211 million kilowatts, up 10.01% year-on-year; the total power generation capacity was 117.334 billion kWh, up 5.23% year on year. Among them, the installed capacity of wind and solar new energy reached 51,640,800 kilowatts, accounting for 38.48% of the total installed capacity of the province, and the utilization rate of new energy remained above 97%.
