Successful potato harvest demonstrates agricultural advancements in Lanling, Shandong

In the fields of Nanqiao Town, Lanling County, Shandong Province, potato harvesters are shuttling back and forth to overturn rows of golden potatoes, signaling a bountiful harvest. The freshly harvested potatoes are swiftly sorted, packed, and transported to nearby agricultural markets, where they undergo centralized weighing, packaging, and loading onto trucks bound for major southern markets such as Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Changzhou.

In recent years, Lanling County has prioritized accelerating land transfer and adjusting its industrial structure to increase the income of the local people. Leveraging the area’s advantages such as flat terrain, ample sunlight, mild climate, and good water conditions, Nanqiao Town has focused on developing specialty agricultural products, particularly building high-quality potato planting bases to benefit local farmers.
Currently, the 12,000 mu of potatoes in Nanqiao Town are entering the harvest season, with an expected yield of 30 million kilograms, generating a production value of over 43 million yuan. The potato planting base in the town has also signed contracts with world-renowned companies like PepsiCo, boosting the diversified development of the potato industry. Additionally, some potatoes are stored, processed, and sold to the Yangtze River Delta region, expanding the sales network.
Looking ahead, the local government will actively adjust the agricultural industrial structure, continuously optimize industrial layout, further promote high-quality agricultural products, and establish modern agricultural industry systems, production systems, and operation systems in an effort to pave the way for agricultural modernization, enhance agricultural efficiency, and boost farmers’ income.
