The Yancheng (Seoul) International Communication and Exchange Center was officially inaugurated at the Representative Office of Yancheng Economic and Technological Development Zone in Seoul, Republic of Korea (ROK) on Monday. As a major extension of the Yancheng International Communication Center (YICC) established in April 2024, the new center marks a significant step for Yancheng in advancing China’s national opening-up strategy and deepening cultural and economic ties between China and the ROK. It is expected to become a key platform for sharing China’s stories and enhancing Yancheng’s global profile.

Jointly established by the Information Office of Yancheng Municipal People’s Government and Xinhua News Agency Seoul Bureau, the center aims to amplify Yancheng’s voice and promote China – ROK exchange. Leveraging Xinhua’s nationwide media reach and the Seoul Bureau’s local expertise, the center will bring together government, business, media, and community stakeholders. Its mission is to build a widespread cultural window and economic bridge across the ROK, forming a comprehensive and multi-tiered network for bilateral exchange.

Looking ahead, the center will pursue a more visionary approach to shaping a new framework for China-ROK cooperation and take concrete steps to set a new benchmark for two-way cooperation. Key initiatives include expanding strategic partnerships with major Korean media, developing influential dialogue platforms and signature exchange events, and facilitating two-way visits – such as hosting delegations from Xinhua News Agency Seoul Bureau, Korean media, and cultural and educational circles to Yancheng, while supporting Yancheng’s business and cultural missions in the ROK. These efforts aim to establish a new model of reciprocal communication and partnership.
