Shiga Prefecture Sets up “Tech Tour SHIGA” as Consultation Desk for Business Industrial Tours
JapanAiming to Promote Exchanges and Establish Networks Between Local and Foreign Firms, Other Interested Parties –
Ahead of Expo 2025 Osaka, the Shiga Prefectural Government has set up “Tech Tour SHIGA,” a consultation desk to suggest and coordinate locations for local industrial tours for officials of overseas companies, organizations and governments visiting Japan during the event.
Shiga Prefecture, home to Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest freshwater lake, is located near the center of the Japanese archipelago. It has rich natural features such as mountains and water sources as well as convenient transport links. It is also one of the country’s key inland industrial regions in the country, where numerous companies with high technological capabilities from both Japan and overseas operate.
Blessed with a rich natural environment and traditional culture, the prefecture is home to a wide range of industries, including tourism, manufacture/sales of traditional handicrafts, and Shigaraki pottery, one of Japan’s oldest ceramics industries.
“Tech Tour SHIGA” is designed to help establish new networks through exchanges between companies and organizations, and create new business opportunities.
The consultation desk hopes that many overseas companies, organizations and government agencies will feel free to contact it for information ranging from inquiries on Shiga-based firms and cutting-edge technologies developed by local businesses, to seeking prospective research partners and purchases of products from local companies.
The scope of services (free of charge): Suggesting specific companies to be visited for overseas companies, organizations and government agencies, and coordinating such visits
